Software Defined Network (SDN) for Smart Cities and Big DataWorkshop chairs:Jawwad A. Shamsi FAST-National University of Computer and Emerging Sciences, Karachi Leila Ismail UAE University, Al Ain, UAE Sherali Zeadally, University of Kentucky, USA Workshop theme and call for papers:Big data drives the innovations in communication infrastructure, as more bandwidth is needed and any-to-any connectivity. In addition, smart and dynamic applications that access geographically distributed databases and servers through public and private clouds require extremely flexible traffic management and access to bandwidth on demand. To achieve these goals, Smart Cities need to be equipped with an agile network that is directly programmable and centrally managed. Software Defined Networking (SDN) is an emerging network architecture that is dynamic, manageable, and adaptable, making it ideal for supporting dynamic and high-bandwidth today’s complex and smart applications. Further, smart cities require that networks are secure, easily customized, scalable, and efficient. Objectives of the workshop:The objective of the workshop is to bring academicians, practitioners, researchers, and students under one platform to share knowledge, ideas, results, and observations. The workshop seeks two types of submissions, i.e., full research papers, with a focus on experimental analysis, and position papers with emerging ideas to address different challenges. Key topics: Topics of Interest include (but are not limited to)
Paper submission guidelines:Authors are requested to submit papers reporting original research results and experience. The workshop seeks original manuscripts (6 pages maximum in IEEE two-column format) that have not been previously published or is currently under review by other conferences or journals. Paper submission must be made through the conference management system EDAS following the instructions provided at http://www.it-innovations.ae/iit2015/Authors.html. Please choose this workshop when submitting your paper.
